The cell-phone ownership has surpassed 5 billion in 2011. This makes mobile phones the single most widely used computing system ever produced. Computing power of today mobile phones exceeds that of desktop computers of a decade ago, and moreover, these small gadgets are equipped with powerful communication and various multimedia facilities. Furthermore, cellular phone network coverage is fast spreading to the farthest rural areas. In the SAMT lab, we explore and expand new opportunities enabled by above technologies in order to improve quality of life, environment protection, and businesses.
